Understanding the Admission Process
DMIS schedules individual visits beginning September 16, 2013 on most weekday mornings. Please contact our front office or admission office to schedule your individual visit. 303.340.3647 Alternatively, you may attend one of our open houses, which are schedule for Wednesday, October 2, 2013, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 and Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Only complete application files submitted by December 16, 2013 will receive full consideration. Parents who wish to enroll their children in grades 1-5 at DMIS must submit the following to the school for consideration:
- Admissions form,
- A parent questionnaire,
- A language profile form,
- A fulfilled request for student records,
- A $150 application fee. Make checks payable to Denver Montclair International School or DMIS or call our front office where we can process credit cards (303.340.3614).

Admission to a particular DMIS program is based on the following criteria:
- Level of parental interest in long-term enrollment in DMIS
- Level of the student’s proficiency in the desired program’s language as determined in a language assessment scheduled after submission of the application
- Student’s academic achievement as recorded in previous school transcripts
- Recommendations from the student’s former teachers
- Space availability
Because a bilingual education is one of the most valuable gifts a child can receive, we strive to keep tuition costs low. DMIS remains one of the most affordable private schools in the metro Denver region. Most of its funding comes from student tuition.

Tuition Payment Plans
With the enrollment contract, one month of the total tuition amount is due, along with the Work Bond Deposit, the Activity Fee and the Tuition Refund Insurance Premium, if applicable.
The tuition deposit is deducted from the total tuition, and the balance is due by August 1 of each year or on the first day of the month in which the student begins attending DMIS.
DMIS breaks the annual tuition into nine equal payments, the first of which is due with the enrollment contract. The tuition deposit deducted from the total tuition is divided into equal payments based on the date the student begins at DMIS. Tuition payments are due the first day of each month, commencing September 1 of each year and ending May 1 of each year (excluding February). Purchase of the Tuition Refund Insurance Plan is required if a monthly payment plan is selected.
Tuition Refund Insurance Plan
Tuition insurance is available at an additional charge of 3.3% of the tuition amount. Families opting for the monthly payment plan are required by the insurance provider to purchase Tuition Refund Insurance. Tuition insurance is optional for families who choose a one-time payment plan. Tuition insurance is due with the enrollment contract.
The plan is administered by A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. and more information is available at tuitionrefundplan.com. The plan is billed through DMIS in July or the first day of the month in which the student starts at DMIS.
The first sibling of a currently enrolled DMIS student will receive a 10% discount on his or her tuition. Additional siblings will receive a 20% tuition discount.
Work Bond — $400 per family
DMIS successfully keeps tuition rates low because it counts on parents to help defray the school’s costs. Each year, families are required to submit a $400 “Work Bond” deposit. If families complete 20 hours of service to the school during the academic year, the deposit rolls over to the next year. Twenty hours of service is easy for each family to achieve.
Activity Fee — $300 per student
This fee encompasses many of the individual costs incurred throughout the course of a school year. Charging a flat fee at the beginning of the school year simplifies our processes and covers the following items: 3rd grade ski trip, 4th grade participation in Keystone Science Camp, 5th grade travel abroad (to France, Spain or China), all field trips, classroom events/school supplies, one yearbook per student, one yearbook ad per class, DMIS Spirit Wear (which is required for special events and field trips).
Each year, DMIS’ Board of Directors designates a limited amount of financial assistance to be awarded to qualifying families whose children attend DMIS full-time. Priority for awards is given to families with children who have completed at least one full year at the school. The maximum amount of assistance attainable per child (excluding extra-curricular activities, daycare, camps, bus, lunch, etc.) for returning families is 50% of base tuition.
